For the last few months I have stumbled across a few new sites that I seem to be using now on a daily basis. I thought I would go ahead and share just in case you haven’t come across them yourself.

Hulu.com is a site that grabs TV shows/videos from all the different networks and posts them on one site. The videos are played using FLASH instead of using windows meadow player, or quicktime.

Mint.com is a site that is very similar to quicken or microsoft money but everything is stored online. Mint goes out and grabs your banking transactions and balances every time you log in. It does a pretty job at sorting your transactions into different categories and lets you set and manage a monthly budget. The security of the site is legit but if your one of those people that are weary of internet security this isn’t for you.

getdropbox.com can be used many different ways. You can use it to share files back and forth with friends and family or you can use it to access files between your work computer and your home computer. You first need to download dropbox to your computer and then choose a place to drop your dropbox folders. At that point you need to setup the other computers you want to share that folder with. Any file you insert into that dropbox folder will then update any computer that is associated to that folder as well. To get a better understanding on how all this works, watch the video on the main site.

She was deathly scared to go under for the surgery but knew she didn’t want to be awake for it either. The surgery lasted only 45 minutes and we were on our way home. Everything went smoothly and we now have a diet of apple sauce, jell-o, soup and pasta. I took some pictures of the inside of Nina’s mouth but decided it would probably be best to leave those out. So here’s a solo shot of Nina right before the surgery.

Sunday night we were watching the Olympics with the Bockhackers when we get an interruption on the TV stating there had been a funnel cloud spotted 2 miles north of Castle Rock. 2 miles north of Castle Rock is Castle Pines and thats exactly where we live. So we opened our blinds and there it was. Eric and I ran outside to get a better view and had the girls update us with what was on the news. The tornado wasn’t powerful enough to cause any problems but was very cool to watch.

Friday night they had a concert open to the public. So Nina, Todd and I headed down to the Springs to hit it up. The concert was awesome, the room we were in only holds about 200, so it was a real cool night of worship. Glen Eyrie is a castle that was built decades ago and is now owned by The Navigators. The surrounding area is very similar to Forest Home. The pictures I took are not the best but here are a few to get an idea.

We drove about five hours to Grand Junction, Colorado. Todd, our youth pastor, and his wife just had a baby so we stayed close to home. Throughout the week we were split into three groups and we all experienced different service projects. The four days we served, my group had the opportunity to clean a homeless shelter, minister to a daycare facility for adults with disabilities, clean Marie’s house (an elderly woman who became blind six years ago) and organize Second Chance Thrift store (which benefits the homeless shelter we worked at.) Travis’ group worked at the Salvation Army in town and sorted through a HUGE , never ending, always growing pile of clothes. They sent some of the totally gross clothes to different countries that needed the clothes too. Todd’s group served lunch to the homeless at the Catholic Outreach and they passed out bagged lunches to some homeless in the nearby park. The week was exhausting yet completely fulfilling. On Friday we drove another hour and half to Moab, Utah. There we went rafting in the Colorado River and experienced the dessert on a Hummer Tour. We had a blast with the kids and have decided we have some of the best youth group kids EVER. The pictures are awesome.

Gina drove back to Colorado with us and oh did we have fun. We stopped in Vegas and stayed one night. It was totally fun, super hot, and brightly lite. She was here for a week and we filled our time together. We thought it would be fun to take advantage of our “small town” feelin’ city and enjoy the Fourth of July celebration. We went to this awesome new park (our youth group kids LOVE it) and enjoyed the city run festivities. The best part was when we left. As we pulled out of the parking lot we saw flames. The hillside caught on fire from the fireworks. We felt so bad for the firemen that were in charge of shooting them off. Bummer deal.

Travis and I drove to California to see family and friends. As Travis said earlier, we left at 2 in the morning and got to California around 4. First things first, a trip to see Reagan. Travis was dying to meet his first and cutest niece so we went straight there. We also made it to Disneyland with the Carlsons. We had a blast in 100 degree weather. YEAH! Our trip was awesome. The big bummer was Travis having to work. He worked in CDF’s Irvine office. We feel blessed that he had this opportunity, we just packed way too much in the two weeks. Thanks for all of you that made time for us. We appreciate you allowing us to intrude on your busy summer schedules.
